ALIVE! Celebrates 50 Years In Alexandria

ALIVE! one of Alexandria's most popular non profit organization is celebrating its 50th year in existence. The organization, whose name stands for "Alexandrian Involved Ecumenically" was first started in 1969 by a group of members from various church congregations who were concerned with the living conditions of poor people within the City. Butterfly Effect Mural Raises $10,000 In Donations

The Butterfly Effect Mural which was painted near the intersection of king and north Patrick streets have raised over $10,000 in donations for non profit organizations. The mural which was created by Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Parker in partnership with artist Tasha Wahl, ACT for Alexandria, Asana Partners and Bloomers has garnered attention from many residents who use their social media to donate to these non profit organizations. FACETS Held Annual Academic Achievement Party To Honor Good Grades And Graduating

FACETS is a non-profit organization that helps people who are stricken by poverty in Fairfax County. On June 12, FACETS held its annual Academic Achievement Party for 122 children and teens supported by them in four low-income communities. They honored children who earned A’s and B’s on their report cards, including 21 of whom are graduating from high school. They also honored 14 adults who graduated from vocation training, ESL and computer classes, paving the way for better employment. Continue reading

Hearing Loss Connection of Northern Virginia Launched On May 18

A new non-profit support organization, Hearing Loss Connection of Northern Virginia (HLCnova), was launched on May 18. The organization will support those with all types of hearing loss (mild to severe) and the people who care about them. The HLCnova was launched in Northern Virginia at a general public meeting on May 18, 2019.  The event was for everyone with an interest in or connection to hearing loss. Continue reading
