A new non-profit support organization, Hearing Loss Connection of Northern Virginia (HLCnova), was launched on May 18. The organization will support those with all types of hearing loss (mild to severe) and the people who care about them. The HLCnova was launched in Northern Virginia at a general public meeting on May 18, 2019. The event was for everyone with an interest in or connection to hearing loss.
According to Vienna and Oakton Connection, "With the motto “Social, Savvy, Supportive,” Hearing Loss Connection of Northern Virginia meets to learn about latest treatments as well as latest techniques to improve the communication strategies. They provide a place where people with hearing loss can meet others facing the same condition. “Whether you have a hearing loss or support someone who does, you belong with us. No one needs to face hearing loss alone,” says their website."
The meetings will be held at Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Persons (NVRC), 3951 Pender Dr. #130, Fairfax.
The first meeting and presentation were held on Saturday, May 18, from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.: “What you need to know about cochlear implants: Modern Candidacy, Outcomes, and Resources,” By Special Guest Speaker – Dr. Michael Hoa, MD.
