Hollin Hills is located in the Mount Vernon area of Virginia. The homes in this community were built by Robert C. Davenport and Charles M. Goodman. Approximately 450 homes were built in the 1940's and is near Villamay and Mason Hill south of Alexandria. The area was built with lots not smaller than 1/3 acre with most of the trees and landscaped preserved.
Hollin Hill won the following awards:
- Revere Quality House award in 1950 from the Southwest Research Institute.
- 2 Test of Time awards for houses at Stafford Road in 1982 from the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects.
For privacy the homes were built at an angle and have a lot of windows for fantastic views. The neighborhood was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register, the Inventory of Historic Sites and has won many awards through the years. The community is served by Hollin Meadows Elementary School, Carl Sandburg Middle School and West Potomac High School.
