How To Sort Out A Local Realtor To Hunt 1-BR Garden-Style Condos Similar To 1923 Wilson Ln #102 In 22102 In McLean

The best Realtor is not always the one with the most sales under his or her belt, and may have less experience. The best choice of Realtor can think creatively to make the deal happen,  and won't panic when facing an unexpected curve.

Every purchaser has different needs and different budgets. Some property seekers will only be happy with a move-in ready garden-style condo. Some purchasers are only interested in Mc Lean Chase. Some home hunters want a big lawn. In the same way that every buyer shopping in 22102 is different, real estate pros have different areas of focus and talents. Here's my bits of advice for hunting for the best choice of real estate agent for you when you’re purchasing in Fairfax County:

  1. Check out Realtor referrals. — I like Angie’s List because I know that Angie’s List voice verifies each review. You can also see if the agent or brokerage has any awards for client satisfaction.
  2. Speak with a few Realtors — You don't have to exhaust yourself chatting with agent after agent, but at least chat with two or three to see who you're most comfortable with. The real estate professional should have time to interface to you. If you pick the most popular licensed real estate adviser in Fairfax County, you might find yourself working with a junior associate affiliated with that Realtor.
  3. Don't under estimate the value of likability. — Interpersonal skills are as important as professional skills. You and your Realtor might be spending a lot of time together.
  4. Find out how they search for. — When selecting a Realtor, ask how they find properties. Some real estate agents have their own preferred listings that they favor. But you want what’s dream for you, not what’s dream for your licensed real estate adviser. So make sure the real estate pro is willing to search high and low to find the most suitable residence for you. That includes using the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) as well as their own personal network.
  5. The devil is in the details. — The Commonwealth of Virginia requires all licensed agents to sign a representation agreement before showing properties or having material discussions about a specific home. Be very wary of any agent that is not concerned about getting a representation agreement signed. It doesn't hurt to have a attorney take a look at your representation agreement, but usually that's not necessary. The document is pretty straight forward. Some representation agreements describe hidden administrative fees of $500 to $1000 that you must pay at closing. (Our does not.)
