Alexandria City Public Schools Officially Closed For The Academic Year

The increasing number of the COVID-19 cases in Alexandria has caused the closure of public schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. The statement was issued by ACPS Superintendent Dr Gregory Hutchings. The Virginia Department of Education has provided guidance and will apply for waivers for state testing state requirements to ensure students stay on track to graduate. The closure of the schools will not impact students moving on to another grade or to attend summer school. All standardized tests have been called off however advancement placement tests will continue in an abbreviated online form. Staff working within the Alexandria City Public Schools will be issued learning materials which they will administer to students once they return from spring break on April 13 2020.
