Amazon Makes Donation To Alexandria And Greater Washington In Fight Against COVID-19

Amazon has provided assistance to the City of Alexandria and the Greater Washington area through a monetary donation of $1mil. The $1 million donation will aid in the emergency COVID-19 response funds which will benefit four local community foundations. In Alexandria, ACT for Alexandria will be the beneficiary of the donation. These funds will be used to aid in providing food, housing/shelter and financial assistance for residents in need. President and CEO of ACT for Alexandria Heather Peeler has stated that "the support enables us to collectively help those who are hardest hit."  Mayor Justin Wilson has praised Amazon for their contribution as the donation will help the City to recover from any economic impact caused by COVID-19. As of Tuesday March 17, 2020 the City of Alexandria has recorded five (5) presumptive positive cases of COVID-19.
