Potomac Overlook Regional Park
My friend and I arrived there a Saturday afternoon for light bushwalking through the trails. The parking is limited and is located across the street from Marcey Road Park's tennis and basketball courts. From here, we strolled to the nature center where we saw several types of live animals and other natural artifacts like bones, rocks, tools, etc. The geologist there was very friendly and gave us a quick tour of the place. We then walked across the road to the "Birds of Prey Exhibit" where we saw a beautiful red-tailed hawk and some owls. Next up was a well-maintained vegetable garden with various plants including strawberries, radishes, peppers, okra, etc. Later we took the Red Maple Trail and headed for the Overlook trail and got to the Overlook. Unfortunately, we could not see the Potomac River from the spot due to tree overgrowth. But, all in all, it is a nice place to relax and enjoy nature. The trails are easy to walk through but its best to bring a map as there are few signs and markers. The Park is open from Tuesdays- Saturdays(10 am- 5 pm) and on Sundays(1-5 pm).
