Music Concert Won By Chantilly High Senior

Chantilly High senior Ethan Luvisia has won first place in the Rotary District Youth Music Contest. The 18-year-old pianist represented the Rotary Club of Centreville & Chantilly (RCCC) and his award-winning piece was “Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor.” Also called the “Revolutionary Étude,” it’s a solo piano work composed by Frédéric Chopin, circa 1831. Ethan was declared the RCCC’s winner on March 16 and then performed the Chopin piece virtually for its members on March 30. Continue reading

Tutoring Company Launched By Local College Student

In the wake of the coronavirus and its impact on students' learning in Fairfax County Public Schools, a 2019 alumnus of South Lakes High School in Reston and second-year engineering student at Georgia Institute of Engineering recently founded S4S Tutoring. Sessions are due to launch Mon. Jan.11, 2021. Brianna Ta studies at one of the most sought after high schools in the D.C. area, Thomas Jefferson High School, in Fairfax County, Virginia. She maintains a 4.2 GPA and wants to continue in the field of computer science. Fairfax County Students Develop App To Help Veterans

Some of the Fairfax County high school students have developed an app geared towards veterans. This app will help veterans searching for services. The app is called the Clinical Trial Selector. The purpose of this app is to give veterans and folks on Medicare access to clinical trials. The application is developed by Ethan Ocasio, a high school junior at The New School of Northern Virginia, Neeyanth Kopparapu and Shreeja Kikkisetti in about six months. Continue reading

Daniel Hillenburg who is a rising junior at Lake Braddock Secondary School is to be awarded the prestigious Congress- Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year. Daniel is one of 250 American high school students from across the United States to be selected for this program. This has been announced by CIEE, the leader in international education and exchange.
