The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway encourages to clean the roadsides, get some sun, and practice social distancing while doing a good deed. VDOT says that roads in Fairfax County are adopted more than in any county in the state. Transportation Approval Chain Moved Forward Four Road Projects In Fairfax County
The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority has moved forward on four projects in the county that are designed to help traffic congestion. The four projects are the Richmond Highway Widening from Mount Vernon Memorial Highway/Jeff Todd Way to Sherwood Hall Lane in the Alexandria section of the county; the Rolling Road Widening project from Hunter Village Drive to Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield; Fairfax County Parkway Widening from Lee Highway (Route 29) to Nomes Court; the Soapstone Drive Extension from Sunset Hills Road to Sunrise Valley Drive in Reston. Northern Virginia is the host to deer that occasionally run from wooded areas to back yards and roads. Usually there are no deer crossing signs. With an appropriate distance the deer are not dangerous. The deer occasionally just show up in different areas of town and continue with their business.
