Fairfax County To Have FACETS Hypothermia Prevention And Response Program

With vaccinations on the rise, FACETS will resume the annual Hypothermia Prevention and Response Program, starting November 28th. This year’s program will again rotate between various faith community partner locations throughout the winter and will include appropriate COVID-19 precautions prescribed by the Fairfax County Health Department to provide a safe and healthy environment for guests and staff. Annual Toy Drive Held At Penn Daw Fire Station 11

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, in partnership with Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue, continued its annual toy drive with distribution day Dec. 10 at Penn Daw Fire Station 11. “Over 60 schools, shelters, and nonprofits requested our assistance this year,” said Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Deputy Battalion Chief Willie Bailey. “In the end, we were able to distribute over 3,500 toys, including bikes and gift cards.” Continue reading

Heritage Fellowship Church Distributed Food At The 7-Eleven In Herndon

A white box truck of 'Heritage Fellowship Church' distributed food on Saturday, Aug. 22, shortly after 9:30 in the morning. The truck was parked at the 7-Eleven parking lot in the Town of Herndon that is an informal day laborer site. The truck carried 300 boxes of food to be donated to anyone who asks. Soap For Hope Campaign Raised $15000 In Fairfax County

Eighth-grade students at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke set a high goal of raising $15,000. They decided to use this money to help 15 schoolmates who had a parent who lost a job because of the pandemic, by making and selling handmade soap. On Friday morning, science teacher David Kelly announced, "What’s exciting is that we’ve reached our goal. I’m not going to lie, it seemed a little far-fetched.” The “Soap For Hope” GoFundMe page passed $15,000 this week, with more than 460 donors. Continue reading
