Declaration day is an annual event hosted by George Mason's Gunston Hall on the anniversary of the ratification of the Virginia Declaration of Rights on June 12, 1776. The Virginia Declaration of Rights was drafted by George Mason and was used as a guiding document to craft the Bill of Rights. Every year on June 12th, Gunston Hall commemorates the establishment of American rights such as freedom of the press and freedom of religion. Continue reading

Transportation Approval Chain Moved Forward Four Road Projects In Fairfax County

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority has moved forward on four projects in the county that are designed to help traffic congestion. The four projects are the Richmond Highway Widening from Mount Vernon Memorial Highway/Jeff Todd Way to Sherwood Hall Lane in the Alexandria section of the county; the Rolling Road Widening project from Hunter Village Drive to Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield; Fairfax County Parkway Widening from Lee Highway (Route 29) to Nomes Court; the Soapstone Drive Extension from Sunset Hills Road to Sunrise Valley Drive in Reston.
