Residents in Alexandria who are facing financial hardship due to the coronavirus crisis can benefit from the COVID-19 Emergency Rent Relief Assistance Program recently launched by the City. The program provides $600 per month for up to three months and is eligible for renters who can prove loss of income due to COVID, who have been current on their rent up to March 31st and meet monthly income requirement based on household size. Rent will be directly paid to property owners and not to eligible renters.
Non eligible renters include those who have a tenant based voucher, live in project based voucher communities, live in public housing or is currently receiving any other government based rental assistance.
Residents can apply for the program through Alexandria's 311 system.
