‘The Flamingo Lady’ Brings Joy To Residents In Alexandria

Alexandria resident Mary Ann Hoffman has found a way to bring joy to residents in Alexandria by using pink flamingos. Residing the Beverley Hill area, Hoffman thought of the idea while cleaning out her shed which was filled with pink flamingos. Using the Beverly Hills neighborhood listserv she was able to spread the word to her neighbors. The post was received by many neighbors and Mary Ann was able to place flamingos on her neighbors lawn with the request that funds towards the flamingos be made to two non profit organizations in Alexandria - the Carpenter's Shelter which supprts the homeless and the Christ House Food Pantry which provides perishable and non persihable foods to the homeless and low income households. Due to the increase in the popularity of the flamingo, Hoffman will be ordering more flamingos as she hopes to spread the joy in Del Ray and North Arlington.
