High-end, D.C. -based fitness chain VIDA Fitness is set to open its location in Ballston in March.
The new 29,000-square-foot gym, which will be their first outside the District, is located at the bottom of a new, 22-story mixed-use tower at 4040 Wilson Blvd. It will feature "Over 100 state-of-the-art machines, 25 personal trainers and other high-end amenities". It will also have VIDA's SweatBox, Aura Spa, and Fuel Bar and a small co-working area for members who need to do some work before or after their workouts.
“In our search for new locations, Ballston is a perfect fit,” said David von Storch, who founded VIDA’s Urban Adventure Companies in 2006. “It is an active, health-oriented, well-educated submarket that we think will respond to what we offer.”
VIDA is getting into a crowded field with over 15 gyms or fitness centers within a four-block radius of the Ballston Metro in Virginia. On average, three new gyms open every year in the Ballston area.
VIDA Fitness worked with architecture firm OTJ Architects to design the Ballston location. The first VIDA Fitness opened on U Street. They are now in five locations, with a second Arlington County location, at 1535 Wilson Blvd. in Rosslyn, expected to open in 2021.
