Councilman Named Honorary Chair Of Alexandria’s 2020 “Cherry Challenge”.

"Night Mayor" Councilman John Taylor Chapman has been named the "Honorary Cherry Challenge Chair" by the George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee. The Cherry Challenge is one of the programs planned for the celebration of the George Washington, Alexandria's adopted resident and the country's first President. Restaurants across Alexandria will compete to win prizes by using cherry to create appetizers, entrees, beverages or dessert. Patrons at the restaurants will judge the cherry dishes by making a vote and placing their vote in a sealed box. Winners of the challenge will participate in the annual birthday parade for George Washington. The contest will end on February 9th. Patrons at the participating restaurants can tweet photos and description of their chery items they have purchased using the hashtag #CherryChallenge or post them on the George Washington Birthday Celebration's Facebook Page.
