The "bus barn" of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will be redeveloped and converted into a new residential development. The space which has been vacant for several years was used as a maintenance garage.
Trammel Crow Residential which acquired the lot at 600 N. Royal Street in Old Town will convert the space into a multi family apartment building with below ground parking. The development which will be named The Alexan will feature 286 apartments with a mix of studios, one and two bedrooms. The project is expected to be completed by the middle of 2022.
