The City of Alexandria Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department in collaboration with "Friends of Rocky Versace" will be hosting the 18th annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11 at Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Ave starting at 1 pm. The event will honor not only the 68 Alexandrians who died or remain missing in action during the Vietnam War but it will honor all veterans. There will be a recognition of all veterans in attendance, wreath laying and patriotic song singing by the Alexandria Harmonizers. Family members of Gold Star veterans will also be acknowledged at the ceremony. Captain "Rocky" Versace who was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2002 will be honored at the ceremony with a tribute from his USMA 1959 classmates. All residents are invited to attend this special occasion.
