The whole country is celebrating the independence day and Great Falls is no exception. There are a number of events that are scheduled throughout the day in Great Falls. A brief description of these events is given below.
At 8:00 am there will be a 5K Walk and Run at Great Falls Freedom Memorial. The Great Falls Trailblazers are bringing the Annual 5K Walk and Run to the local trails. It will be held at Freedom Memorial on the Library grounds. The race will begin promptly at 8:00 am.
From 8:00 am to 1:30 pm there will be INOVA Blood Drive at Great Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Their motto is "The Great Save Lives, Give Blood". Everyone who completes the donor screening procedure will receive a free Donor T-shirt. Photo ID is required to participate in this drive.
At 9:00 am there will be Little Patriot Parade at the Village Centre Green (at the Gazebo). Babies and Toddlers up to age 5 are welcome to parade their finest patriotic display around the Green. Awards for “Young George Washington,” Little Miss Betsy Ross,” and “The Star Spangled Family” along with many others will be presented at the event.
At 10:00 am there will be the Main Parade at the Great Falls Village Centre. There will be fire trucks, floats, horses, antique cars and more making a loop in the Main Parade. Participants can also spot the winning floats for Best Neighborhood, Best Business, and Best Organization.
From 10:30 am to 12:30 pm there will be Festivities, Food & Fun at Village Centre Green. After the parade, you can enjoy lemonade, cotton candy, snow-cones, and other treats, along with music, field games and festivities on the Village Centre Green. There will be a special performance by the local magician, The Great Zucchini, starting at 11 am, along with cool new Hometown Celebration merchandise for sale this year.
At 6:00 pm there will be Fireworks and Fun at Turner Farm Park. Gates will open at 6:00 pm. Live music, games, contests and food trucks will entertain until the Big Show gets underway just after dusk.
