Clarendon is an urban and exciting neighborhood in Arlington County, Virginia. Clarendon is located between the Rosslyn area and the Ballston area. Clarendon was named after Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon, a leading statesman, and historian of the English Civil War. The main thoroughfares in Clarendon are Wilson Boulevard (one-way westbound) and Clarendon Boulevard (one-way eastbound). Clarendon is mostly known for its active nightlife and many dining spots. Clarendon offers tastes for every tongue from Texan to Thai food. The nightlife includes everything from salsa and ballroom dancing to blues or electro-modern. Clarendon is host to several of Arlington's events including Arlington's Neighborhood Day parade, the annual Armed Forces Cycling Classic each summer, and the largest annual event, Clarendon Day, which features multiple music stages, kids’ activities, arts and crafts vendors, and more. The central geographical and economic features of  Clarendon are Clarendon Metro station, Market Common Clarendon and the Whole Foods Market at Clarendon Boulevard and Edgewood Street. There are several public schools in Clarendon including Arlington Science Focus Elementary School, Arlington Traditional Elementary School, Arlington Community High School, and Washington-Lee High School.
