Also, there may be some disagreement as to what exactly a particular neighborhood is named. If there is just one letter of difference between two entries this will be counted separately. Thus, if you really want to get a count, you should consider all possible variations of the community's name. For instance, Midtown condominiums in Fairfax County are by some people known as Midtown, Midtowns, Midtown condomiums, Midtown Alexandria, Midtown Alexandria Station.

Of course, for the reason stated above, make sure you look for all possible variations of the spelling.

Is the property for rent?

This list does not cover rentals. Hence, it may be that the sign you saw was for a rental property. And, this tally exclusively includes active listings in Chantilly.

Is the property coming soon?

An active listing is a property that is available and on the market. There are some listings that have a sign up that are not active. For example, sometimes a for sale is up because the property is coming soon. A property that is in coming-soon status is not yet available and not yet on the market. Only agents have access to information about properties that are in coming-soon status. Not to mention, the MLS database does not allow us to include those listings in our count.
