McLean Day is an annual festival featuring carnival rides, live entertainment, pony and kid rides, and an arts and crafts show. Admission is free. This year the McLean Community Center is holding its annual McLean Day festival on Saturday, May 18, rain or shine from 11 AM to 5 PM. McLean Day festival will be held at Lewinsville Park in McLean.
This event draws approximately 10,000+ patrons throughout the day. You can vote for your favorite MCC candidate in the McLean Day festival. Also, you can enjoy the free live entertainment, sponsors, exhibitors, food trucks, ticketed large and small carnival rides, costumed characters, amusements, games, free shuttle parking and more. Tickets for carnival rides will be sold on site. there will be also Free Laser Tag, Free Bubble Ball, Free Rock Climbing Wall, Free Balloon Animals, Free Petting Zoo and Costumed Characters and Jugglers. Free Shuttles take people to the festival from McLean Baptist Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, and McLean Community Center.
The McLean Day festival has been a tradition for 103 years. McLean Day began in 1915 when the McLean School and Civic League sponsored a festival to raise funds for school and community projects. Throughout the years, various community organizations kept it going, until MCC began producing it in the mid-1970s. In 1988 it moved to Lewinsville Park where it has remained.
A variety of popular large amusement rides can be enjoyed at McLean Day. Younger children can enjoy a "Kids' Way" area that features ticketed rides especially for them. There are also several free games and activities all over the park, including Bubble Ball, a climbing wall, laser tag and Squeals on Wheels Petting Zoo.
The food options are numerous as food trucks are located around the park. Two large covered tents with picnic tables are conveniently located close to food vendors.
Residents that live in the McLean Community Center tax district are eligible to vote from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Lewinsville Park (1659 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean). Voters must present ID or verify their address is in the tax district to vote. Eleven candidates are running for seats on the board on this with five adults vying for three seats and six teens vying for two student seats — one for the Langley High School boundary area and another for the McLean High School boundary area.
