Do you want to buy real estate around Sunset Hill School?

A remarkable Realtor from Nesbitt Realty is an outstanding expert on info about local highlights like this.

Sunset Hill School is located at 360 Sunset St, Strasburg, Shenandoah, VA 22657. This site with marker number AB-4 is historic because after a fire destroyed the Queen Street School in 1929, it was built in 1930. The Queen Street School was one of the first schools in Shenandoah County for African Americans. The new school served Grades 1-7 and because the county had no high school for African American students, graduates had to go elsewhere to attend higher grades. African American residents petitioned for better facilities, and the school board considered building a new segregated elementary school as late as 1962, eight years after the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled that public school segregation was unconstitutional. Sunset Hill closed in 1964 when Shenandoah County schools were fully desegregated and is today used for storage.
