This list is revised often to make sure that we're supplying fresh data that you can count on. The tallies collected below is pulled directly from the MLS database, so there are some quirks to be aware of.

You may spot a subdivision listed more than once.

You should know that the names of subdivisions (or condominiums) found below were all entered into the MLS database by Realtors. Because humans entered the data, there will be spelling errors. Of course sometimes, those typographical errors can be corrected and that correction makes it seem like a property has moved from one subdivision to another when in reality the listing was updated.

Not to mention, there may be some disagreement as to what exactly a particular community is called. If there is even one letter of difference between two entries this will be listed as different communities. So, if you really need to get a picture, you have to consider all the variations of the community's name. For example, Midtown condominiums in Alexandria are by some people called Midtown, Midtowns, Midtown condomiums, Midtown Alexandria, Midtown Alexandria Station.

"I saw a sign up but the community isn't listed below."

Is there a different name for this specific community?

Is the property under-contract?
An active listing is a property that is available and on the market. There are many properties which have a sign up that are not active.
