A primer on Potomac Yard
About Potomac Yard
Potomac Yard located in the National Capital Area at Alexandria VA was once one of the busiest rail yards on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. Today, the name Potomac Yard often refers to a shopping center located at the site of the former train yard along Jefferson Davis Highway (also known as US Route 1). The Potomac Yard neighborhood lies between Route 1 and the George Washington Parkway north of Slaters Lane and south of a small body of water known as Four Mile Run. Four Mile Run marks the boundary between the City of Alexandria and Arlington County and thus Potomac Yard lies entirely within Alexandria.
