On the warm morning of June 10, Lake Braddock Secondary School seniors and their friends and families gathered at Jiffy Lube Live to celebrate their commencement—the first time they all gathered together since before the pandemic. The ceremony opened with the presentation of colors by the school’s JROTC, followed by a recorded performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by singers from Lake Braddock Secondary School and elementary schools from the area. FACETS Held Annual Academic Achievement Party To Honor Good Grades And Graduating
FACETS is a non-profit organization that helps people who are stricken by poverty in Fairfax County. On June 12, FACETS held its annual Academic Achievement Party for 122 children and teens supported by them in four low-income communities. They honored children who earned A’s and B’s on their report cards, including 21 of whom are graduating from high school. They also honored 14 adults who graduated from vocation training, ESL and computer classes, paving the way for better employment. Continue reading
