Soap For Hope Campaign Raised $15000 In Fairfax County

Eighth-grade students at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke set a high goal of raising $15,000. They decided to use this money to help 15 schoolmates who had a parent who lost a job because of the pandemic, by making and selling handmade soap. On Friday morning, science teacher David Kelly announced, "What’s exciting is that we’ve reached our goal. Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden To Host 4th Speakeasy Fundraiser in Alexandria

The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden located at 614 Oronoco Street in Old Town Alexandria will host its 4th fundraiser event on September 14th. The event dubbed Sips & Secrets: A Speakeasy Night will celebrate the house's Prohibition-era history. The event will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm and attendees will be able to enjoy 1920s-style drinks while dancing the night away to live jazz music and ragtime. Attendees will also be treated to dance and costume contests and be able to win great prizes in a silent auction by local Alexandria businesses. A pre-reception will be held for VIP members which will include an exclusive liquor tasting and a tour of the house. Ladies Tennis Social Fundraiser Support Local Elementary Schools

The idea of holding a Ladies Tennis Social fundraiser was given by Celebrate Great Falls Foundation (CGFF). When Great Falls Friends and Neighbors (GFFN) heard about this idea, they decided to sponsor it. The mission of the fundraiser was to support the local elementary schools (Great Falls, Forestville and Colvin Run) and to purchase new computers and programs for the elementary school students. Last year nearly $40,000 were raised for the schools by the CGFF's highly successful fundraiser event.
