Closures For Playground, Rec Centers And Fenced Play Areas In Alexandria

The City of Alexandria has ramped up its effort on social distancing by announcing the closure of playgrounds, rec centers and fenced play areas throughout the City. The City has closed the following public play spaces until further notice:
  • Recreation, nature and art centers
  • playgrounds
  • fenced fields
  • fenced basketball and tennis courts
  • fenced dog parks
The closure of these outdoor spaces arise from the need to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus. All unfenced parks, trails and fields will remain open however the city is advising residents to be vigilant and practice social distancing while washing their hands and using their hand sanitizer.
