Alexandria Public Schools Receive Full Accreditation
For the first time in 20 years all public schools in Alexandria have full received accreditation. The Jefferson Houston School and T.C. Williams High School, the lone schools who did not meet accreditation standards became the new additions to the group following a release by the Virginia Department of Education. Full accreditation means that the schools meet or exceed state standards or have shown at least sufficient improvement. Superintendent Gregory C Hutchins stated that "this kind of success doesn't happen by chance nor does it happen overnight." While the public schools system is happy for the success of all the schools the superintendent believes there is more work to be done.
