On Friday, Giant Food’s newest D.C.-area grocery store opened in Fairfax. Also, the discount grocer Lidl’s newest area store opens in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County on Sept. 9. Experts have advice for parents who may feel that they’re losing their cool. “It’s completely understandable that people are going to have shorter tempers, shorter fuses,” said Allison Lowry, the program manager of child abuse and neglect prevention services at Fairfax County’s Department of Family Services. City officials has approved the proposal for the development of a new cat cafe and wine bar in Old Town Alexandria. The new one of a kind Mount Purrnon Cafe and Wine Bar will be located at the former home of Sand and Steel Fitness at 109 South Alfred Street in Old Town.
