The neighborhoods of Old Town and Del Ray will come alive on August 10th and 11th at the 10th Annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale. The event which is led by Visit Alexandria in partnership with the City of Alexandria, the Del Ray Business Association, Old Town Boutique District and Old Town Business will see a showcase of over 50 Alexandria boutiques offering summer merchandise at discounts of up to 80 percent. Boutiques will be offering items ranging from fashion, jewelry, home decor, culinary goods and seasonal gift items. Continue reading
Del Ray’s Annual Art on the Avenue Festival will be held on Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray on October 5 from 10 am to 6 pm. The annual festival which is held on the first Saturday in October celebrates the community’s diversity through the arts. The festival hosts over 300 artists from jewelers, woodworkers, pottery akers, soap crafters, glass makers and sculptures. Live music will be provided on five stages with music from Irish, folk, rock n roll country and more. Food vendors from local restaurants will be on sale right through the festival. Patrons (kids and adults) at the festival can participate in the annual pie eating contest which will be held near the Festival Store with 100% proceeds going to the non profit organization Kelley Cares. Kids can participate in activities such as stuff your own scarecrow, paint a pumpkin, design a lotus flower and weave screen art. All are invited to attend this artistic annual event.
The 11th Annual Del Ray Music Festival will be held on July 14 from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square located at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Oxford Avenue in Del Ray Alexandria. The Annual Event celebrates the diverse and local musical talents in the Washington DC area This year’s event will feature live music from local musicians who will be performing on two stages: Pat Miller Neighborhood Square and Bean Creative Stage. Food and refreshments will be provided by some of Alexandria’s top restaurants with pop-up beer gardens to be provided by seven of Del Ray’s top Restaurants.
