One of the greatest factors in the value of real estate is the public school system.

Talk to an agent at Nesbitt Realty to learn more about City of Fairfax public schools.

Before the City of Fairfax became an independent city, it was a town in Fairfax County and the schools were part of the Fairfax County (FCPS) system. When the town moved to city status in 1961, state law required that a local school board be organized to govern the schools. In 1962 the City of Fairfax and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) entered into a partnership called the School Services Agreement (SSA). Through the SSA, FCPS is responsible for curriculum, staffing, transportation, and meals while the City of Fairfax is responsible for the management of the four city-owned school buildings including major renovations, grounds, and capital improvements. The City of Fairfax has the following schools.
  • Fairfax High School
  • Katherine Johnson Middle School
  • Providence Elementary School
  • Daniels Run Elementary School
