T.C. Williams High School Seniors Win Prestigious Scholarships

Two seniors at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria are feeling ecstatic and grateful after winning the prestigious Posse Foundation scholarships worth $250,000. Seniors Wilmer Carranza and Madeleine Allen who will be attending college this fall will have their tuition costs covered after they were awarded the scholarships at a ceremony held in Washington D.C. Wilmer and Madeleine will both be looking to major in Computer Science at Lafayette College and University of Wisconsin-Madison respectively. Continue reading

Alexandria Public Schools Receive Full Accreditation

For the first time in 20 years all public schools in Alexandria have full received accreditation. The Jefferson Houston School and T.C. Williams High School, the lone schools who did not meet accreditation standards became the new additions to the group following a release by the Virginia Department of Education. Full accreditation means that the schools meet or exceed state standards or have shown at least sufficient improvement. Superintendent Gregory C Hutchins stated that "this kind of success doesn't happen by chance nor does it happen overnight."
