Independence Day Celebrated In Herndon

The Town of Herndon celebrated the 4th of July after canceling last year’s event due to the pandemic. What made the evening extra special was that the firework display launched from the Herndon Centennial Golf Course was the first large group community gathering for town residents since the COVID-19 lockdown in March of 2020. The opportunity proved to be freedom for friends and family. They gathered at neighborhood picnics as the people living on Nash Street did at their “island” located in the center of the cul-de-sac. Centreville, Virginia-based defense, engineering, and IT security contractor Parsons Corporation will acquire Herndon-based BlackHorse Solutions for $203 million. Parsons, one of the oldest defense and engineering contractors, will expand its next-generation military, intelligence, and space operations with the BlackHorse acquisition, and bring its nearly 200 employees, most with high-level security clearances, onboard. Bike to Work Day Celebrated Its 20th Anniversary

May is National Bike to Work Week, and this year, Bike to Work Day celebrated its 20th Anniversary. Countless cyclists pedaled the W&OD Trail into the Town of Herndon, one of over more than 100 regional pit stops. Herndon IT Firm Acquired By Booz Allen For $725M

McLean, Virginia-based government contractor Booz Allen Hamilton will acquire Herndon, Virginia-based Liberty IT Solutions LLC for $725 million. Liberty IT Solutions has about 600 employees, with other operations in Exton, Pennsylvania, and Melbourne, Florida. Its work includes IT modernization projects for government agencies and in the health care industry, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, expanding Booz Allen’s growth in health care consulting. Looking to better the environment and celebrate the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, Clean Fairfax and Aslin Beer Company hosted Earth Daze on April 24 at the Elden Street Herndon brewery. The one-day event promoted sustainability in a fun and interactive environment, laid out in the fenced-in beer garden. Proceeds from the event allow Clean Fairfax to continue leading its charge on all things green and sustainable in Fairfax County. More 3D Imaging Satellites Launched By Herndon’s BlackSky

Herndon, Virginia-based BlackSky, a space startup whose small imaging satellites collect high-resolution images of Earth for government and commercial customers, is accelerating the expansion of its satellite constellation. BlackSky will add nine satellites this year through a launch partnership with Long Beach, California-based Rocket Lab, which specializes in small and cube satellite launches. Continue reading

Pizza Twist is the newest addition to Worldgate Centre in Herndon, Virginia. It is a fusion pizza shop with both traditional pizzas and pizzas with an Indian cuisine twist. The new restaurant, which also has a full bar, joins more than a dozen other dining spots at Worldgate.
