Cardinal Ridge Elementary School student Pranamya Jindal won first place in the elementary-school division under the team name Nature Wings. This was the Centreville resident’s first time participating in the renewable energy competition. The 2021 National KidWind Challenge was hosted virtually from June 8-10 on Zoom. Independence Day Celebrated In Herndon
The Town of Herndon celebrated the 4th of July after canceling last year’s event due to the pandemic. What made the evening extra special was that the firework display launched from the Herndon Centennial Golf Course was the first large group community gathering for town residents since the COVID-19 lockdown in March of 2020. The opportunity proved to be freedom for friends and family. They gathered at neighborhood picnics as the people living on Nash Street did at their “island” located in the center of the cul-de-sac. Great Falls Traditions Returned To Village Centre Green
Great Falls traditions returned to the Village Centre Green for the 4th of July 2021. Presented by Celebrate Great Falls, the welcoming atmosphere and organization drew families from the community and surrounding areas to the shaded, grassy common. Before the younger children paraded around the perimeter of the interior common, dressed in their finest patriotic displays in the Little Patriot Parade, the older children, like Michael Picard, 7, and his sister Caitlyn, 10, provided service hours. The First-Ever Bloomie’s Will Be Brought By Bloomingdale To Fairfax
Bloomingdale’s is embracing its own nickname for the first time, opening the nation’s first Bloomie’s store in Fairfax, Virginia. And it will have a Colada Shop. The 22,000-square-foot store, about a tenth the size of some of the largest Bloomingdale’s department stores, opens Aug. 26 in the Mosaic District. Bloomingdale describes Bloomie’s concept as a new store experience with design concepts and a distinct assortment of contemporary and luxury brands across women’s and men’s fashions and beauty products. Capital One Center, the large mixed-use development that is part of the company’s Tysons headquarters campus, will open its on-site hotel, The Watermark, this September. Bethesda, Maryland-based B.F.
