 Developed between the late 1940s and 50s, the community mostly consists of expansive high-value homes with various architectural styles including Colonial Revival, Cape Cod, Arts & Crafts, and Ramblers. The community has continued to develop over the years mostly due to teardowns and wholesale remodels. Residents of Stratford Hills enjoy various conveniences including shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The community is near Lee Harrison Shopping Center (with its numerous restaurants and stores including Harris Teeter) and Westover Shopping Center (with a beer garden, hardware store, barbershop, etc). Nearby restaurants and bars include Amoo's restaurant, Maya Bistros, Sushi--Zen, Cowboy Cafe, Thirsty Bernis, among others. If you are looking for something posh and classy, the Washington Golf and Country Club, which has been frequented by U.S. presidents and other members of the ruling class, is just close by. For residents who love the outdoors can spend their time at Greenbrier Park (with a soccer field and playground), Tuckahoe Park (spacious park with nature trails, fields, tennis courts, amphitheater, and playground), and Chestnut Hills Park ( a shaded park with picnic areas, and playground. Families here also enjoy the Knights of Columbus Swimming Pool (by membership). Schools that serve the neighborhood include Discovery Elementary, Williamsburg Middle, and Yorktown High School.
