Residents In Alexandria Benefit From Food Donations

The COVID-19 Pandemic has created many difficulties for residents in Alexandria and globally. Several local organizations in Alexandria is doing their best to ensure residents have enough food supply during this difficult period. The Alexandria City Public Schools is assisting students and their families by providing  meals on a weekly basis free of cost. Volunteers from Volunteer Alexandria has been helping the ACPS to distribute these meals to their students and their families. Pickup sites have been increased with grab-and-go pop up sites available at various apartment complexes and community centers. YMCA is playing their part by providing produce and meal distributions at their location in Del Ray. Meals are available for children 18 and younger on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while produce is available on Mondays and Tuesdays. ALIVE! which is Alexandria's non profit organization that provides monthly food pantries has increased its inventory and is providing additional food pantries. The organization has also established drive through pick up sites and has held Truck-to-Trunk food distribution events. All organizations will continue to do their utmost best in ensuring all residents of Alexandria have a consistent supply of food during this pandemic.
