Rail And Bus Service To Be Reduced Due To Coronavirus Concerns

Commuters in Alexandria will experience reduced services on DASH bus and Metrobus and Metrorail. The announcement was made by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and the Alexandria Transit Company/DASH. The reduction in rail and bus service is due to the threat of the coronavirus/COVID-19. The Metrorail and Metrobus service will be reduced starting on March 16. Trains will operate every 12 minutes throughout the day from Monday-Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays the trains will operate on its normal services. Metrobus will operate on an "enhanced Saturday" schedule. DASH buses will reduce their services starting on Thursday March 19 with all bus routes operating on an "enchanced Saturday" schedule during the week. Buses will operate on its regular schedule on Saturdays with additional trips to be provided on several routes. DASH has also implemented a work from home policy for all its non essential administrative employees. All buses will undergo intensive daily cleaning and disinfection.
