Fountainhead Regional Park Fall Colors Kayak Tour will take place at Fountainhead Regional Park 10875 Hampton Road, Fairfax Station on 28 October 2019. Led by NOVA Parks roving naturalist David Garcia, this kayak tour will take those ages 14 and older on an afternoon adventure along the Occoquan Reservoir. As you paddle along the water with friends and family by your side, Garcia will go into detail about the history of the area, as well as the natural elements of the changing leaves around you.
As with any exercise, it is not advisable to eat a heavy meal just prior to attending your paddle tour. Canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding involves constant movement. Instructor(s) will lead warm-up activities at the beginning of the event to engage the body for the activity; this may be conducted on the water pending the activity.
All participants must bring a water bottle, sun protection (if applicable) such as sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and lightweight, long sleeve shirt, appropriate water clothing – fibers like nylon, silk, synthetic and wool retain insulation properties even when they are wet and therefore, keep the body warmer, recommended footwear can be water shoes, strapped sandals, or any comfortable shoe that can get wet, and change of clothes, shoes, and towel for after the tour can be left in the car.
