As with any exercise, it is not advisable to eat a heavy meal just prior to attending your paddle tour. Canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding involves constant movement. Instructor(s) will lead warm-up activities at the beginning of the event to engage the body for the activity; this may be conducted on the water pending the activity. All participants must bring a water bottle, sun protection (if applicable) such as sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and lightweight, long sleeve shirt, appropriate water clothing - fibers like nylon, silk, synthetic and wool retain insulation properties even when they are wet and therefore, keep the body warmer, recommended footwear can be water shoes, strapped sandals, or any comfortable shoe that can get wet, and change of clothes, shoes, and towel for after the tour can be left in the car.
