Synetic Theater is a physical theater company located in Arlington's Crystal City neighborhood. The theater, which was started in 2001 by the husband and wife team of Paata and Irina Tsikurishvili, aims to tell stories through a creative combination of movement, music, technology, and visual arts.
Synetic Theater's productions have inspired flights of imaginations that have included wordless productions such as Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet, and The Adventures of Peter Pan. It has earned 116 nominations for the Helen Hayes Award and won 27 Helen Hayes Awards, garnering praise for both its word-less and dialogue and movement pieces.
I have gone there on several occasions and enjoyed all their performances. The theater is small and is located in the Crystal City underground. All the seats at Synetic Theater offer a great view and they provide a small selection of beers, wines, soda, and water with some snacks for sale.
Synetic Theater is easily accessible from the Crystal City Metro stop and there are many restaurants around if you want to catch dinner before the show. Parking is also available and is free at the Marriot right above the theater.
