Newly Approved Apartment Tower In Crystal City To Contain 12 Affordable Housing Units

The Arlington County Board has recently approved the construction of a 19-story residential building in Crystal City which will have at least 12 affordable housing-compliant units.

The board voted unanimously to approve the new apartment building which will be located at 400 11th Street South. The vote also included a rezoning and site plan amendment and site plan amendment for the proposed development, which holds a Verizon telecommunications facility. The facility will remain on the site. Developer LCOR agreed to offer seven two-bedroom and five one-bedroom affordable units within the building that will be contractually committed to remain affordable for 30 years. The developer also agreed to contribute over $1 million to the county's Affordable Housing Investment Fund and another $1.43 million towards designing a new park adjacent to the site of the building. The new building will include a rooftop terrace for residents, ground floor retail, and a three-level underground parking garage with 148 parking spaces.
