Sellers Continue To Dominate Real Estate Market In Alexandria

The real estate market in Alexandria is still in the sellers favor. Based on recent data from the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors there are fewer homes on the market in Alexandria when compared to the same period last year. When compared to last year, homes remained on the market an average of 31 days before going under contract in September which was a significant drop from 55 days in 2018. Average home prices were up by 5% from a year ago which makes the market in the seller’s favor. In September 2018 there were 4,134 properties on the market which was significantly higher when compared to September 2019 which has 2,616 properties on the market. This represents a 37% drop in the housing inventory. Home prices have also been reduced by 2.2% in September 2019 when compared to September 2018.
