Celebrate Scottish Heritage In Old Town At The Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend & Parade

In 1749 the City of Alexandria was officially established by three Scottish merchants and was named after its founder John Alexander, a Scottish descent. On December 6th and December 7th, The Campagna Center will continue to celebrate the city's rich Scottish heritage by hosting its 49th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade. The two day weekend event will start with the hosting of Heather and Green Sales where residents can purchase a variety of wreaths, garlands and fresh heather bundles to add to their home for the festive season. Residents can also attend Taste of Scotland, an event which features a Scotch tasting menu including an array of Scottish Scotches, Scottish ale sampling as well as beer, wine and food. The final day of the festivities will feature the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade which will begin at St Asaph and Wolfe Streets and conclude at Market Square. Join thousands of residents and enjoy marching units fitted in Scottish attire, music from the Scottish bagpipes and drums, Scottish dancers, Scottish dogs, classic cars and much more. After the parade residents can explore Alexandria's history by taking a tour of Old Town's most festive homes decorated by acclaimed interior designers and local florists. All proceeds from these events will benefit the Campagna Center's core programs which helps families and children to thrive and succeed and to reach their potential.
