Columbia Heights West is a mixed-residential neighborhood located on the central-western edge of Arlington County. It is bordered by 7th Street South to the North, Four Mile Run to the east, Columbia Pike to the south and South Carlin Springs Road to the West.
Columbia Heights West is mostly characterized by condo buildings, with a few townhouses scattered throughout the area. You will also find some garden-style apartment complexes and several small commercial areas within the neighborhood. Many of the condo buildings offer modern units with features such as sleek hardwood floors and new appliances. Some buildings even offer residents with peaceful courtyards with scenic trees and tranquil streets.
There are several natural areas and community facilities available in and around the Columbia Heights West neighborhood. These include the Glencarlyn Park which is only minutes away and offers a whole host of outdoor activities such as picnic areas, fishing, dog park, hiking and biking trails that connect to the Four Miles Run and the Washington & Old Dominion Trails. The park is also home to the Long Branch Nature Center, which hosts exhibits and live-animal displays to educate visitors on nature and the environment
There are numerous shops, restaurants, and grocery stores around Columbia Heights. Students at Columbia Heights West community attend Patrick Henry Elementary school, Thomas Jefferson Middle school, and Arlington Community High school.
