What Can You Enjoy At Daingerfield Island?

Daingerfield Island is a National Park in Old Town Alexandria, at the junction of Four Mile Run and Potomac. The park marks the site of the first permanent settlement of the City of Alexandria. Often mistaken for an island based on its name, Daingerfield Island is a 106 acre park which offers water activities, field sports, bike and running trails and restaurant to visitors.  At Daingerfield Island, visitors can enjoy a picnic on the open space or enjoy a bite at the restaurant located on the property. The park is also home to Washington Sailing Marina which offers sailing lessons to adults and kids as well as boat rental services to experienced sailors. The sailing school is operated by the Potomac River Sailing Association. Visitors can also access bike rentals for a ride along the Mount Vernon Bike Trail. Daingerfield Island is owned and operated by the National Park Service.
