The City of Alexandria and the country of Scotland have a long standing relationship which stretches back to 1749, the year of Alexandria’s birth.
The City of Alexandria was officially established in 1749 by three Scottish merchants and was named in honor of John Alexander who was also of Scottish descent. Today, the City of Alexandria will continue to celebrate its history with Scotland with the hosting of the Highland Echoes Show. The show will be held at Rachel M Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at 4915 East Campus Drive on Friday October 11th. Patrons at the show will experience performances such as Highland dancing, Highland bagpipes, dance music and songs being performed in the Scots Gaelic language and various dance and music being performed to represent American History. The Highland Echoes show will also feature the historical Scottish wear, the kilts and the tartan.
