26th annual Middle Eastern Food Festival will be held on August 31 and September 1, 2019. The Festival is being held by Holy Transfiguration Melkite Greek-Catholic Church on the church grounds located at 8501 Lewinsville Road, McLean. There will be authentic Middle Eastern food, pastries, music, and dancing, as well as vendors, church tours, and activities for both children and adults at the festival.
The festival will take place from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31 and 12 noon – 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1. You can smell the aromas from the outdoor grills at the festival. The food items available at the festival will include Kibbee, Shish Kebab, Falafel, Fattoush, Hummus, and Stuffed Grape Leaves, or any number of other delicious menu choices, including a roast lamb dinner at 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening and all day on Sunday. There will also be a cup of Arabic coffee and mouth-watering pastry. Arabic favorites, such as Baklawa, Maamoul, Namoura, or Ghraybeh, or old-fashioned American sweets like cakes, cookies, and pies will also be there.
There will also be Debke dance (instructors will teach you how) held at the festival. Children can enjoy the moon bounce, face painting, pony rides, and the petting zoo, as well as participate in some of the many games going on throughout the Festival.
The admission to the festival is free as well as the parking.
