Another season of free summer concerts with all of your favorite bands and some new ones as well is currently going on at Herndon Friday Night Live. Every Friday night from May through August crowds gather at the Town Green in historic downtown Herndon (777 Lynn Street) beginning at 6:30 pm to hear music from popular local bands and acts from up and down the East Coast. Most music is rock and roll covers from classic to modern rock, but also some country and original music. This Friday on July 12, Boat House Row and Big Al's Truck would perform.
According to www.herndonrocks.com, "Boat House Row hails from Philly and offers the premier yacht rock experience. In the musical sense, yacht rock refers to the highly polished brand of soft rock that emanated from Southern California between 1976-1984. The term is meant to suggest the kind of smooth, mellow music that early yuppies likely enjoyed while sipping champagne on their yachts. Significant “yacht rockers” include Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Steely Dan, Toto and many more."
The opening act will be performed by Big Al's Truck. As per www.herndonrocks.com, "Big Al’s Truck is a Northern Virginia-based band that performs high-energy, family-friendly rock, pop, and country favorites from the ‘80s to today. The band has quickly established a large following after forming in March 2017. Local favorite Big Al’s Truck performs high-energy, rock, pop, and country favorites from the ‘80s to today; just the way you remember. Lead vocalist Ashley Schwab is a dynamic presence on the stage, with vocals reminiscent of the original artist. Comments about Big Al’s Truck highlight the incredible vocal performance, sensational guitar tone, and tight rhythm delivered by seasoned players that are familiar in the NOVA music scene."
At Friday Night Live, you can also enjoy food from local restaurants including Domino’s, TurCuisine, Dairy Queen, Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern and Egg Karne along with great music. There is also a wide variety of beverages, several different beers and wine for sale. The Herndon High School Boosters sell freshly popped popcorn each Friday to raise money.
You can enjoy a fine summer night along with your family at Herndon Friday Night Live.
