The Butterfly Effect Mural Comes To King Street in Old Town Alexandria

Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Parker and members of the local community have created The Butterfly Effect Mural, a global art and philanthropy project. The mural is installed on the side of the Bloomers Retail Building at 924 King Street and the mural will be on display until September 8. Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Parker stated that the mural "highlights the opportunity for everyone to embody the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, becoming the change they want to see in the world by facilitating small acts of kindness, encouraging generosity and promoting creativity." She also stated that "the Butterfly Mural will build community, promote vibrancy on Upper King Street and highlight non profits in a fun interactive way." The Butterfly Effect Mural project was created by Tasha Wahl, a California artist who was inspired by Edward Lorenz's Butterfly Effect theory. There has been more than 200 butterfly murals installed around the world in the past three years. http://connectionarchives.com/PDF/2019/070319/Alexandria.pdf
