About a mile west of the Ballston Quarters, bordering Carlin Springs Road and divided by Arlington Boulevard, is a historic neighborhood by the name Arlington Forest.
The Arlington Forest neighborhood dates back to 1939 and contains 850 homes built by the Meadowbrook Company. Most of the homes in the community are detached two-story, single-family dwellings with some minimal Colonial Revival style. But over time, many homeowners have remodeled and renovated their homes to meet today's family standard.
There are a lot of amenities available for residents in this neighborhood. Most of the residents belong to the Arlington Forest Club, an exclusive self-owned swim and tennis club located along Carlin Spring Road. Lubber Run Park, which runs down the middle of the neighborhood, provides the residents with trails, picnic areas and an amphitheater for summer entertainment. The Arlington Forest Shopping Center also serves the community.
Students living at the north side of Arlington Blvd go to Barrett Elementary, Kenmore Middle School and Washington-Lee High School, while those at the south attend Barcroft Elementary, Kenmore Middle School and Wakefield High School.
