National CPR And AED Awareness Week To Be Recognized By The City Of Alexandria

The City of Alexandria has encouraged all residents to learn how to saves lives during National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Awareness Week from June 1-7. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is a technique that is performed on someone who is having a cardiac arrest. The technique helps to preserve blood flow to the brain and heart and it should be followed by advanced cardiac care. The City of Alexandria along with the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association recommends that at least one person in every household and business place should receive proper training in CPR and proper use of an AED. They also encourage individuals to learn hands only CPR which consists of first calling 911 then proceeding to push hard and fast in the center of the persons chest at 100-120 beats per minute until resuscitation is completed. Every resident in the city is encouraged to partake in all activities that will be hosted during this week as learning CPR and the use of AED can make a big difference in saving lives.
